bit.ly/fv5aRPNCAA might be a different animal with a "protect the QB" mentality. However, every time an opponent contacts a runner at the sideline and the runner falls down, it is not a flag. The defender was actually trying to ease up on the runner. As a wing, you are so juiced up to watch for a late hit, the flag could fly easily when a no-call might be in order. It happened at Team A's bench. While the bench might have kittens, I think a no call is in order here.

I'm keeping the flag in my pocket. It wasn't a violent hit and the defender was easing up.

I certainly agree with you both. However, if you watch the wing official did not even think he was pulling before the video left him.
I also believe the defender was half way trying to hold the QB up and let go when they both were going to go down and that would have looked that much worse. But when a player throws his hands up most of us automatically think what did he do wrong. I do.
