Very interesting take by Pereira on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He thinks the penalty is too severe. But, the current rules didn't curb the unsportsmanlike conduct during the live ball that the NCAA doesn't want and doesn't belong in the amateur game. It'll be the lead story on every Saturday evening sportscast the first time a TD is taken off the board, but I think its a good rule.

The new unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is long overdue. We'll never see the rule implemented at the professional level, but I hope that this one trickles down to the high school ranks within a year or two.
I can remember at least 4 times where I would have called back a TD because of a premature celebration.

I don't know if we'll see the NCAA rule come down to the high school level. Since a live ball USC is enforced from the succeeding spot (the try) that is a big punishment for HS. Have the try from the 18 is a tall order for HS.
I think Pereira's comments come from his professional background where displays like that are tolerated.
