Fight breaks out after the game in Detroit. Part of the reason why I think officials should wait to leave the field until both teams have left to make sure there are no post game flair ups. The officials broke it up with some help from the coaches. But, I'll bet the NFL will have something to say about it later.

Where was Carey when this fight was going on? That's why they need to keep the officials on the field until both teams have left the field in order to avoid this.

Chad Brown was present and trying to wade between the coaches but coaches, security people, PR folks, and players swarmed in and things didn't escalate.

The TD review rule problem rears its ugly head again. This is very similar to the situation Carey had in week 2 for the Oak/Buffalo game when Hue Jackson got no explanation or review on a questionable TD and therefore threw the red flag. In this case the replay booth DID NOT review the play apparently, yet it took Carey and crew 35-40 seconds just to determine whether catch by Pettigrew of Detroit was in fact a catch and Detroit TD. Then after TD was announced there was another 40 seconds before PAT interupted because of penalty due to Harbaugh illegal toss of the red flag. So at least a 1 minute 20 seconds went by with no review or decision on whether to make a review was made. This is ridiculous and unacceptable and apparently it seems to be a problem for Carey and crew. You are giving the exact reason why IR didn't buzz for a review. They had so much time to look at it, that they were confident the call on the field was correct, and determined a review was not necessary. So not ridiculous at all and perfectly acceptable. The 8th and 9th members of the crew did their job.

I disagree. Part of the problem is that the Referee has no control over whether this or any play is reviewed. Its up to the Replay Official who, let's face it, is now a major role on each crew and has as much control over game situations than anyone on the field including the Referee. This situation isn't Carey's fault. If it's questionable enough of a play to have 3 officials conferring for a minute than it's likely that it's questionable enough to review. Now that the NFL has granted the 8th man the significant and powerful status that they have, in this case it was unacceptable not to utilize his role as Replay Official. I think it is ridiculous that if I put myself in a position as a coach that I can challenge a catch or fumble anywhere in the field or even whether someone stepped OOB but I can't challenge or do anything to initiate a review on whether a play was a TD. This was poor officiating by the Replay Official

Boy although it was an exciting game, the Dallas-New England game was tough to watch with all the penalties (I'm not saying there was anything necessarily wrong with any of the calls but games like that are so full of discontinuities and there's just something about Coleman's enforcement of penalties that just rubs me the wrong way, I just can't explain it......

Nice job by the wings and by Walt Anderson for getting together on the McNabb safety.

Need to get BOTH feet down, not just one foot twice. Weir makes the initial call, and Podraza comes in to save the day! bit.ly/qHWmNh

Winter's crew had to deal with a scrum today. Winter went to the ground - but not as bad as Corrente. bit.ly/qyQCge

Since when is it the job of the officials to break up a spat between the two coaches?
