Nice, fluffy piece on the referees. A little snarky with Triplette, but, oh well.

I take this list with a grain of salt. Sorry, but Ed Hochuli isn't the top referee in the league right now and Al Riveron certainly isn't a top-3 referee. The guy who officiated last year's Super Bowl didn't make the list either...

....and if Jim Tunney is on the list, how could they leave out Tommy Bell, Jerry Markbreit, Ben Dreith, Gene Barth, Pat Haggerty, Bob McElwee, Norm Schacter, Tom Dooley, Bob Frederic, Fred Silva, Cal Lepore, Walter Fitzgerald, Jack Vest, Fred Wyant, Gordon McCarter, Ron Blum, Phil Lucket, Dick Jorgenson, Art McNally, Jerry Seman all of whom had distinguished careers as NFL referees......

This is a confusing list. I think this is how he currently ranks the refs but then he throws in Tunney as an alumni? pick. I'd say Anderson, Bakeman and Riveron would be the 3 best I've seen this season but still over 2 months to go.

R85 is far from the top referee in the NFL, he's an also ran when it comes to the likes of Bell, Schacter, Tunney, and many of the others that cj mentioned earlier......good list cj! Missed John Mc Donohugh though.

Or Dick Hantak, Gerry Austin, or Bernie Kukar. I still say Bill Vinovich would have been one of the great ones had he not been forced off the field due to cardiac issues

Hey cj
Don't sweat it, there's a heck of a lot of extremely GOOD referees in years past, can't get 'em all!
