Layne broke in using the scissors stance but now he looks good squared up behind the plate.
On another note - his plate jacket looks GREAT! I wish they'd use the jackets instead of the pullovers, but I guess the pullovers provide for more layering and comfort.....

While Jerry Layne did not have the best night behind the plate according to Fox Tracker (is that official and what Layne is judged on?) this was a very will officiated World Series.

I am a big Rangers fan and have been my whole life. While Jerry Layne did not have the best night behind HP last night that did not cost Texas the series. In game 6 twice the Rangers had the Cardinals down to their final strike and failed. The Rangers cost themselves this series in game 6.

While Jerry Layne did not have the best night behind the plate according to Fox Tracker (is that official and what Layne is judged on?) this was a very will officiated World Series. Screw Fox Tracker, Layne called a PROFESSIONAL game last night. On that walk, I immediately called out loud ball on that last pitch. And sure enough, the replay showed the C subtly, but definitely trying to jerk that pitch back in the zone. I give you ANYthing that confuses that tracking software - but NOT a properly experienced human being! What I would love to see is sometime, instead of the rectangle, they have the strike zone that you and me and just about every other umpire has been taught - the one that is actually called...

Layne did not, by any means, cost any team the game.
Congratulations to all the umpires for a wonderfully called World Series.
