Congratulations to all, especially Ron Kulpa and Alfonso Marquez, whom I saw in the minor leagues. This is a very good group and I think they'll do a fine job.

Good Crew. Ted Barrett has had a good year, I see him as next Crew Chief.

Good crew, but I'm not sure if J. Layne should be the crew chief. Congrats to all 6, especially R. Kulpa and G. Gibson, who are making their World Series debuts.

You mean Bob Davidson wasn't selected? THE HORROR! ;D ...nor was Phil Cuzzi.....but then again when they weren't selected for the league semi finals, they had no chance of being selected for the mlb finals. (how can it be the World Series if it's only competed for by North American teams>)

i don't know enough about umps to have predicted like I try (and usually fail) with the NFL refs, but glad to see Jerry Layne got a spot, and even the CC. He's my friends Uncle, so it's pretty neat to see that. He's a great ump

It seems like this crew has been having a good series. I don't think there have been any huge gaffes or game-altering mistakes.

The umpiring in the entire post season has been very smooth, not just the WS! Could this system be working out?

Big Ted Barrett on the plate tonight in a crucial game 5. He's not giving up on the high pitch and doing well. I'm flipping back and forth between MNF and the World Series.

You can follow along the umpires plate performances at umpireejections.blogspot.com/I haven't seen every game or every inning. Has there even been a manager/umpire argument at all this series?

No serious arguments. Ron Washington came out to have a chat with Ron Kulpa after Kulpa's missed call at first base in game 3. And last night, Tony LaRussa had a conversation with Alfonso Marquez after Matt Holliday was picked off third base. Replays showed Marquez's call to be one of the great calls of the series. This has been a very well umpired World Series and postseason in general.

Also liked the call by Jerry Layne, I believe, that the Rangers player had not touched first base
