The NFL has done a great job with regards to understanding its rules by first having Mike Periera in his official capacity come on NFL Network, and now Fox hiring him as a rules analyst. Now this year it seems that the NHL is doing something not only in response to questions about its fine/suspension system, but something that I think should set a trend for the other sports. Brendan Shanahan, the NHL's new head of discipline explains the 5 game suspension for Flames F Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond for a late hit from behind. video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=35&id=124228Given all the griping about discipline relating to on-field/ice/court incidents, this is a very smart move. I'd love to see someone from the NFL office put video on NFL.com to show the transparency of why fines & suspensions are doled out the way they are.
