Wow - my SO has the same knee issue. I know quite well the pain it causes her.

I could see Steve Javie retiring very shortly and possibly be one that accepts an administrative position in NBA Office....Very personable off the court. Believe it or not, if he continues another 5 years, Hall of Fame worthy....he is really than good....Too many people continue to stereotype a young Steve Javie of the late 80's when he was a perceived hothead. He has adapted with the changing of the game and has excelled.
Very deserved to have been ranked Number 1 during his career.

Javie had to keep the lid on a skirmish last night.

This paragraph from the above article caught my eye. Referencing his dad, former NFL deep wing Stan Javie:
"My dad never criticized another official," Javie said. "He just said, 'you didn't have the angle this guy had.' He's making a judgment from the angle he has on the court. And that's what makes it so challenging. I'm not complaining about it. That's what gets us going, the fact that it's such a challenging job, and we're under such scrutiny, and I know sometimes we don't like the scrutiny. But that leads to even more of a challenge, to be as perfect, or as good as you can get every night."
Steve Javie also was a very good minor league baseball umpire, but fan afoul of his supervisors and never advanced. He made a good officiating career for himself, though!
