Any updates on anyone the NFL is looking at for next year?

Would be interesting if we have a 2nd Hochuli and a 3rd Steratore in the near future. There are a number of college referees that are intriguing if they are young enough (Novak, Austin)

Shawn Hochuli is in his early 30s. I think it is a dead on lock that he will be in the NFL in the next one to five years.

Fred, should this thread be in college or NFL since more people see the NFL threads?

I think the 2 best NFL referee candidates right now are Matt Austin (SEC) and Scott Novak (Big 12). I think Shawn Hochuli as a ways to go before he's NFL-caliber.

I also think John O'Neill (Big Ten) has a chance to make the NFL.

This is a relevant topic because there is a possibility that we could have +/- 30 retirements in the next three years.

I also think John O'Neill (Big Ten) has a chance to make the NFL. He's older than you think and once Lemonnier and Witvoet retire, he'll be in line for many BCS bowls. Does he want to make the jump now or be content with his current position?

i think Brad Allen from the ACC could get a look. He's young and has been getting big assignments as of late. Of course, Ron Cherry is to old now, but Pereira told me he was heavily looked at in his day. Woulda been fun to have another "givin him the business" guy in the NFL =)

Easy way is to look at who the finalist were last year.
You can always check the east west shrine/senior bowl crews from last year to get a good idea...since they are assigned by the nfl.

Gerry Austin seems quite high on Sara Thomas
