Crazy sequence in the Florida-State-Miami game. The FSU quarterback was flagged for intentional grounding in the endzone, which resulted in a safety. The play was reviewed and upheld, even though replays clearly showed that the quarterback's feet were not in the endzone when he threw the ball. The officials had a discussion before the next play. After the discussion, Flanagan announced that the rule had been mis-interpreted, and the 2 points were taken off the board. Flanagan put the headphones on once again, and the RA confirmed the ruling. The crew got the call right, but they didn't look very good in doing it... Former Big 10 referee, Steve Newman, once said, "It's better to get it right and look like (excrement) in getting it right, than blowing the call and BEING (excrement)."

Michigan V Illinois- John O'Neill Was at that game. There were many replays but everything worked out ok. Stood in the pressbox chow line with Tom Quinn, former Big 10 referee. Crew did a very good job. Solid 3.6

A Florida State player was (wrongfully) ejected yesterday for what the officials thought was a flagrant hit:
(Ignore the idiots who posted stupid comments)
I hope the ACC reviews this and doesn't force the player to sit out next week.

I think the NCAA POE is to call for ejection if the player "launches." It was a great flag, but if the NCAA might mandate ejection.

I think the NCAA POE is to call for ejection if the player "launches." It was a great flag, but if the NCAA might mandate ejection. I have to disagree here. IMO, the player didn't leave his feet, meaning that he didn't really "launch" himself into the receiver. I understand why the defender was flagged, but I don't agree with the ejection.
