Checked the NBC multi-angle feed online for the pass/fumble. Here's the evidence: From the end zone angle, umpire Chad Brown made no incomplete signal: From the sideline camera, although a blurry still image, Darryll Lewis is signaling incomplete. Immediately on the conclusion of the play, Tony Corrente ran over to Lewis, seen at the top of the screen. Then, he announced the fumble ruling.

FF7, I thought Wilson had a weak personal foul call on the overturned td. Also I believe it was McGrath who gave the Saints a very favorable spot on 3rd and 11 on the TD drive that instead of forcing new orleans to punt from inside their 20 they end up scoring to take a 2 score lead which changed Detroit's playcalling

After watching the game, I'd say overall 3.0...inadvertant whistle was unexcusable especially at this level of competetion. But, thats what happens when you start the play with the whisle in your mouth instead of in your hand. A loner lanyard and you can function with the whistle in your hand, put it up to you mouth when you really mean to.

Any reason they continued to wind the clock to end the game after the Saints took a knee on 4th down? Am I missing something or should the clock have stopped and Detroit taken over? I know it's a meaningless point as the game was "over" anyway but just curious.

Question regarding the leap by Brees on the 4th down play- they may have given him progress on the leap but since he pulled the ball back on his own should he lose progress? It's not a goal line play where he has to break the plane. Not sure where the ball got eventually got spotted finally but maybe it wasn't a first down.

I know it's a meaningless point as the game was "over" anyway but just curious. I wondered the same thing, too. It was 4th and goal when NO took the final knee. The clock should have stopped and the ball turned over on downs. Granted, there were (I think) 22 seconds left and the game was "over," but a mistake is a mistake. This, in my opinion, rivals if not exceeds the inadvertent whistle error. A colossal downgrade for all 7 on-field officials for this.

With all do respect to Corrente, I wonder how much this assignment was awarded on merit as much as it was that he could be retiring. Leavy missed 4 games a few years ago and did not get a playoff assignment.
