I wish both Tony and Fred fully recover from their illness and are in the same crew again. Fred impressed me by calling a chop block in his first NFL game .

Adrian Hill as the substitute if that happens? Or an older guy like Don Carey did in Blakeman's limbo...? My guess is if Corrente needs to take a year off and the league has no indication that another referee plans to retire after 2012 or there is nobody dangerously on the bubble you will see a vet like Don Carey or Kirk Dornan. If it looks like a retirement/position switch will happen then you will see a younger official. Think it is too soon for Hill but John Hussey has been a R before and has worked the Super Bowl as a LJ. He also has experience working under Corrente (as well as with at least one other current member of his crew) so that would appear to be a more likely replacement long term

A few weeks ago I criticized Doug Farrar for his cheap-shots against the NFL officials, so I have to praise him for being nice to Mr. Corrente. The close-up photos in the post show the ravages that poor man has already faced. yhoo.it/zpxDD8

Pereira tweet from Saturday about Corrente:
He is doing very well. His attitude is great and physically he is very strong. Thanks for asking.

Last two paragraphs of the article show how incredibly grounded Mr. Corrente is. Still, he tries to divert attention from his ordeal, preferring instead to marvel at the strength and courage of other patients he's met at MD Anderson, including and most heartbreaking to him, children.
"I've had 60 great years, and I'd give all of them up if just one of them could be saved," he said.

If any insiders have any way to contact Mr. Corrente, please alert him to this message board and know he has a dedicated group of officiating fans ardently praying and hoping and wishing for a complete recovery!
