Good call by Smith on the illegal pick

I almost think Harbaugh called another illegal pick on the very next play to see if the officials had the guts to flag it again. They did. Illegal picks are sometimes hard to catch, but those were easy to call.

The OPI call was excellent. It's often missed. Harbaugh's haranguing the officials onevery single play is a little too much. Could see him shout at Parry after the play where he thought Brees threw after he crossed LOS, "Hey, I want to talk to you" while motioning Parry over using his finger. If I was Parry I would have been irritated

Harbaugh is a whiner and a major irritant to the officials. He's going to give officials headaches for many years - kind of like Marv Leavy.

Officials have to exude calm detachment even in the most crazy situations, but you now when they get into the locker room, they will say, "WOW! WHAT a GAME!"

R- John Parry: 3.99 awesome game U- Dan Ferrell: 3.9 HL- Derick Bowers: 3.99 excellent work on backward passes LJ- Rusty Baynes: 3.9 FJ- Scott Edwards: 3.9 I was fine with his DPI SJ- Keith Washington: 3.9 BJ- Billy Smith: 4.0 Gutsy illegal pick calls against the home team
Crew: 3.94
The game started out really chippy, but the teams settled down and the crew rolled with things and didn't throw flags.
I am proud of this crew.

I agree with all the judgements. I was excited to have Parry's crew (with Smith of course) working my 49ers. Felt they did a great job on every call or non-call they made, except the DPI in the first drive...3.95 for them.
GO 49ers!!!!! that was the best finish I've seen in a while

It was a tremendous game and John Parry's crew was every bit as good as the game. Wouldn't be surprised to see Parry in Indianapolis in about three weeks.

The best playoff performance thus far this season! I'll agree with the 3.9+ ratings for everyone. The consecutive OPI calls were remarkable, gutsy and dead-on correct. To change the subject a bit... Does anyone know if the NFL has a provision for calling UNS on the bench, or if a member of the coaching staff can be disqualified? I watched this game with a NO fan and his opinions of Harbaugh's antics were, shall we say, not suitable for publicaiton here

Harbaugh is very much to me like Rex Ryan, except not so public. He is fiery and passionate, and often times it gets control of him. He's definitely a Gruden-esque in-your-face coach.

Anyone can be "excluded from the field enclosure" by the referee. It may not be called a disqualification, but it has the same effect.
So far, no NFL coach has been ejected, despite the fact that it has happened in the other three major sports.

I watched this game with a NO fan and his opinions of Harbaugh's antics were, shall we say, not suitable for publicaiton here Several years ago, when Jim Mora, Jr., was coach of the Falcons (he was a real peach to the officials) the Falcons were playing the Bears on a very cold night in Chicago. Mora was mad at a call and Jeff Triplette came over to explain the call to him. Mora's response was a two-word, anatomically impossible directive. Triplette flagged Mora for UNC - well deserved. There are no rules in the NFL that proscribes an ejection for coaches for verbal abuse (unlike the other three major sports or NFHS football for that matter). I would think a coach would have to strike maliciously strike an official in order to be disqualified.
