That was a marginal DPI at best. Defender had great position. Leave those ticky tack ones alone.

Agree Damon. Official should have kept flag in his pocket

Good for the guys to get together and rule that fumble correctly. That was a very quick whistle by the FJ. He's got to pick it up in my opinion.

Parry missed the helmet to helmet hit on the Smith sack/fumble.

Sure looked like helmet/helmet missed and there was contact with the punter

There was also helmet to helmet contact on the Pierre Thomas fumble. In my opinion, it was more obvious than the helmet to helmet contact on the Smith sack/fumble.

Interesting tidbit, the local San Francisco Bay Area sports radio show, "Razor and Mr. T." were interviewing the 49ers radio play-by-play guy Ted Robinson this week after the announcement of the assigned crew. They were upset with assignment, completely negative about this crew, especially due to the dpi called by the back judge (P. Paganelli) during the Thanksgiving, SF @ Baltimore game. Little did they realize that Billy Smith (a different BJ) is assigned to this game. Another moment where broadcasters just don't know.

Pereira tweet:
@mikepereira: OK crew....runners are NOT defenseless, ergo, no helmet-to-helmet foul on a defenseless player. #NFLPlayers

Great positioning by Edwards and Baynes on that 49er INT and long return inside the 5. Baynes got to the goal line and allowed Edwards to spot it.
