Not bad for a Surfing Instructor at Orange Coast College! Laird is well like by all that know him. Thanks for posting the article.

I wonder how many of the current officials have had joint replacement surgerys? I belive the Garth DeFelice has had both of his knees replaced.

Had instant replay not been in place, I think the call would have been an even bigger deal. It was a great call, no doubt, but I get the feeling the attitude outside the officiating circles is, "Well, if he's wrong, instant replay will fix it anyway."

Hip replacement surgery is something else, I've had both replaced because of officiating, and the hips both wore out. No knob left, the top of the bone completely gone. If anyone is anticipating this surgery, do it! You'll be suprized how much better you feel. We went on vacation, and my pedometer said we walked 43 miles in 10 days, and that though seashore, mountains, forests up and down trails and the like. Had my first one done 4 years ago and the last one five months later. No regrets.
