Refs - O'Halloran, O'Rourke, Sutherland and McCauley
(out - Watson, Pollock, Lee and Rooney)
Lines - Morin, Racicot, Sharrers and Murray
(out - Heyer, Barton, Amell and Murphy)

I'm guessing refs
O'Halloran, O'Rourke, Sutherland and Pollock, but I wouldn't be shocked if Watson made it.
Lee, McCauley, and Rooney I don't see having a chance

A quick rundown:
REFS:
O'Halloran (his 5th Finals; 3rd consecutive; 2012-11-10-08-07) - arguably the top ref in the NHL.
Rooney (his 1st) - This is the big surprise - his highest previous level was the 1st round, although we'll never know how high he would have gotten last season since he suffered a broken leg in the first round last year!
O'Rourke (his 2nd and 2nd consecutive; 2012-11) - and now arguably #2 behind O'Halloran.
Watson (his 6th; 2012-08-07-06-04-03) - first Finals in four years - nice comeback.
Surprising Omission: Sutherland (made last two Finals)
LINES:
Morin (his 8th Finals and 7th consecutive; 2012-11-10-09-08-07-06-02) - arguably the top linesman in the NHL.
Racicot (his 6th and 5th consecutive; 2012-11-10-09-08-06) - a close second to Morin.
Amell (his 2nd; 2009) - returns after a 3-year hiatus.
Murray (his 1st) - has been on the rise over the last few years so not really a surprise.
Surprising Omission: Really nobody given the caliber of the four selected.
Congrats to Rooney and Murray on their first selection and good luck to all!

I was surprised Jay Sharrers did not get to The Finals.

No Sharrers was a bit of a surprise for me too.

O'Halloran showing why he is a Stanley Cup Finals ref

O'Halloran has progessed nicely over the past few years as the torch was past from McCreary (Hall of famer to be), Devorski to O'Halloran....Looks like O'Rourke is following that same path.
In the next wave of young officials I expect big things from Steve Kozari, MacCauley and Brian Pochmara. Maccauley is very close now.

O'Halloran showing why he is a Stanley Cup Finals ref It was an obvious and easy call and picked up by ir anyway....it would have been disappointing if he had ruled it any other way but I suppose yu can't fault getting it right but I am sure 99.9% of the referees would have gotten that one right.....and for the other 0.1%, the ir would have caught it.

cj, with all of the bodies flying around it was much tougher than it appeared plus he kept himself in great position to not be screened

I didn't mean to put the guy down........besides it wasn't critical as the ir would have picked it up anyway.....that's what we pay officials to do...I'll stick with what I say not as a put down but it was just so obvious a call and he clearly was going to have back up i.e. the instant replay anyway. That is one of the best things about the NHL. An ir system that works almost all the time unlike the NFL.

Luckily the officiating in last night's second SCF game did not have any outcome on the game but I will say this, it is indicative of what happens when you suddenly decide with three minutes left in the third period to call something you let go all game. The interference call against the Devils at that stage of the game was ludicrous as pointed out by the announcers and then O'Rourke was forced to call an even up penalty that under normal circumstances they let go and it almost cost the Kings the game. For pete's sake, unless it's egregeous, let them play the game and let the players decide the game and not make ticky tack calls like that.

According to Kerry Fraser, former NHL referee who does a colum for TSN, Dan O'Halloran messed up last night in allowing the first LA gvoal. The puck was definitely under Brodeur's pad and out of sight of the referee and was poked in on the third whack at the pads. Fraser claims the whistle clearly should have blown and then spends another couple of paragraphs trying to explain why that puts a great deal of pressure on referees, that they really have to be sure the puck is covered and not blow the whistle prematurely but in this case agrees it was a terrible call. Not that it mattered in a 4 nil game but sometimes in hockey the first goal can make all the difference. Not a good night, though, for O'Halloran.
