Never been impressed with Lance Barksdale. About 2 years ago, at PETCO park, he made a horrific call at the plate. David Eckstein crosses the plate standing up. The next runner slides to the outside of the plate dragging his hand across the plate. No signal from Lance. Then the catcher tags the runner about 15' or so from the plate. Lance calls him out. Eck pleads with Lance to look at he plate, but he won't turn around to look at it. The drag marks from the runnner's hand were there in clear view. Then replay was shown on the monitors w/in the seated areas of the yard. I have never heard a crowd boo for 3 solid innings. Didn't matter who or which team was at bat. They just didn't stop. It was impressive. So you're going to use a call he made 2 years ago against him? That doesn't seem fair to me. Yup!

I still hold disdain for Angel Hernanderz who in either 1999 or 2000 in the game before the All Star game break between Atlanta and the Mets on a short wild pitch called the Brave runner safe in the 13th inning to get the game over with much to the chagrin of John Franco when the replay showed the runner was clearly out. Oh well....need those all star vacations. But then again, most would agree Hernandez is not one of your best umpires that's for sure.

According to Mlb.com Lance Barksdale is working games in Kc. Pit and Col. I guess he is superhuman. But in all seriousness these are two errors. It is actually Lance Barrett in Colorado. The person who updates box scores went with the wrong Lance B. I don't know who is actually in Kansas City but I am trying to find out.

The correct location for Lance Barksdale would be Pittsburgh.

I heard a MLB umpire say one time that a clue to ejecting a player for throwing a helmet is where he LOOKS after the throw. If he throws the helmet in frustration maybe just a fine is in order. The umpire said if he throws his helmet and then glares at the umpire, that is a clue that the player is throwing the helmet in protest of the call, so an ejection might be in order. Unless Harper said something magic about the call, I think that helmet throw is worthy of a fine and nothing else.........

I can see taking your helmet off, but throwing your helmet to the ground, even if you're frustrated, I'm not a fan of.
I don't mind ejecting players that throw helmets, regardless of the reason.
