Next batter hits a game-tying homer. Looks like Marvin went Tim Welke on this play. This is the type of play that MLB has go to start directing the home plate umpire to go help him out. Obviosly Marvin did not see his foot. If he had, he'd have been out. But it seems like MLB or The Umpire's Union are more concerned with umpire's saving face than getting a call correct.

It was actually not the next pitch but with a 1-2 pitch. I am not so sure I agree with this ejection. It looks bad, but the pitch was only a little bit inside and Fielder did not try to get out of the way, plus he laughed with the catcher after getting hit. And why would you hit someone with a 1-2 pitch?

Congratulations to Ed Hickox on working the plate for Homer Bailey's no-hitter for the Reds in Pittsburgh. I believe this is Ed's second no-hitter.

Congratulations to Ed Hickox on working the plate for Homer Bailey's no-hitter for the Reds in Pittsburgh. I believe this is Ed's second no-hitter. It is, he worked Matt Garza's no-hitter in 2010. Hickox is one of the more underrated Umpire in the league IMO, you never hear from him. He just goes on the field and takes care of business. Good job Eddie!!!

Kerwin Danley missed about 2 months in the middle of the season so he will be ineligible, Hunter Wendlstedt has been out since early June, Tim Tschida and Brian Runge have been out since late August. Bruce Dreckman also missed the entire season due to neck surgery.

Close Call Sports is coming out with their Awards list as voted by users of that site. Might be something worth considering here as the people who tend to frequent this site appear to know something about officiating
First up was Worst Umpire (don't worry they have best and worst awards) - Marty Foster
Cannot say I disagree with that as Foster was among the umpires I thought did the worst job this year. I believe I voted for Larry Vanover but Foster was on my short list
