Lemonnier's crew stunk the place out at Michigan State....late in the game the useless SJ made two phantom calls against Michigan State, one calling back a score on an interception, State # 5 called for PF, and it was a perfectly legal block from the side, and a perfectly played blocked catch and the SJ called DPI on this. This clown was behind both plays and called these from a good 20 yards away with other officials in better position to see the action. Carillo better dump that clown, he's clueless. He's already been demoted from R, fwiw...

The Side Judge at Michigan State who made the very controversial calls was Scott McElwee, formally a Referee in the Big Ten, now a Side Judge.

It's not very often that a crew earns a 4.0 (according to our grading scale), but the crew that worked the LSU-Alabama game was about as perfect as a crew can be. They nailed several close calls and did a GREAT job of working together to sort out a couple of plays. Most importantly, they let the players decide the outcome of the game.

Owens always seems to lead a solid crew out there each game. He is not the most known referee from the SEC, but he makes bowl games most every season. I wonder if we will see him get the SEC Championship or BCS Bowl Game this year. This assignment tells me they have a lot of faith in him. Plus with Matt Austin seemingly downgraded this year (he has gotten mostly lower level SEC games this year), it could be open for him. It will be hard to move ahead of Ritter and Moore though.

Hubert Owens is not the flashiest R out there but he and his crew always give a solid, workmanlike effort on the field. In that way he reminds me a lot of the R who I think is currently the best at his position in the NFL, Walt Anderson
Speaking of Austin getting lower level games, don't forget Ken Williamson who has gotten a few higher profile games this year as another potential bowl official from the SEC depending on how many crews are assigned
