Ah, a trip down memory lane. Instead of having nothing but bad beer, car, and "He Went to Jared!!!" ads during NFL games, we would occasionally have bits like the famous "IBM Presents: You Make the Call." Here's one, I know the clip is from a 1988 Giants-Cowboys game.
Go ahead...you make the call ;D

I think this is a touchback.
I remember this play and Haggerty's crew blew the call. They ruled safety and the final score was 12-10. Ooops!
The NFL also suspended Replay Official Armen Terzian for a game for not initiating a instant replay. Terzian close to resign immediately instead of taking the punishment.

Oh, one more thing. That's Dick Jorgensen making the signal right at the start of the segment.

Why don't they do these anymore? It certainly would stop the channel flipping. Seems like the very thing a sponsor would love to jump on.
I imagine that there was a little extra overhead, because I remember the segments matched one or both of the teams playing to the clip selected. I always thought that was a bit much, and I do remember seeing quite a few repeats as a result.
Sadly, the You Make The Call and Alcoa Presents Fantastic Finishes seem to be timeless segments that no one seems to want to resurrect.
