Up until recently, I was accustomed to seeing the captains and the referee at the 50 yard line at the start of the second half. 99 times out of 100, the team who was on defense at the start of the game elected to receive to start the second half, and the other team told which goal they wanted to defend.
At the games that I have attended recently, I have not seen that meeting take place. Is this something that was discontinued, or have I just not noticed it?
Thanks in advance.

The officials get the options when both teams come on the field to start the use one half and relay to the opponents. They just do away with the captains ceremony.
