This is awful. Tod was a great Official working the 2008 Fiesta Bowl, 2009 National Championship, 2012 Rose Bowl, 2013 Orange Bowl, 2016 and 2017 AAC Championships among other big games. He was also an Official in the very short lived UFL. It was usually a battle between him and Hugh Campbell as to who was the BCS LJ in the mid to late 2000's. With all the turnover in the Big East/AAC the last 6 years Reese was one of the constants who stayed in the league even when they lost their Power 6 status and could no longer work BCS/NY6 games. No doubt the ACC tried to snag him a number of times just based on how good he is but he was loyal to Terry McAulay and the Big East/AAC. There is something very admirable about that to me.
Looking at the gofundme shows how much he was loved in the Officiating community. The gofundme was started by AAC Referee Todd Lapenta and has donations from Officials all over the country including NFL SJ Adrian Hill and Big 12 Referee Reggie Smith among many ACC and AAC Officials. Very good thing Todd LaPenta did with this gofundme.
RIP Tod
