3 very good hires, 1 hire that I don't know anything about (I don't watch CFL), 1 OK hire and 1 atrocious hire. Terry Killens and Nate Jones were hired for one reason and one reason only and that is that they played in the NFL. At least with Jones he worked Bowl Games in 2016 and 2017 for C-USA and then moved to the Pac-12. With Killens he made a Bowl Game in 2015 and then missed one each of the last three seasons in a mid-major conferece. That is not even remotely close to acceptable for the NFL.

Was Nate Jones the official who needed a break in the letter to PAC-12 or was that Jay Edwards? If you are not working a Power 5 conference you need to have a strong track record of working your conference’s top bowl assignments IMHO.

Do we know of any other retirements besides Walt Coleman, Morelli, Parry and Stelljes?

Updated the entry with the rookie numbers:
82 Jimmy Russell 106 Patrick Holt 42 Nate Jones 77 Terry Killens 37 Tripp Sutter
Hawkshaw's number TBD. Everything for now seems to point to an oversight rather than an indication of an actual hiring change.

Hawkshaw is listed in the record and fact book as number 107.
The current numbers available are: 22, 57, 69 (never issued), 85, 87, 89, 94, 114, 123, 127, 132 and 135
Walt Coleman IV went from 87 to 65 (his dad's old number). 70 has been retired in honor of Jerry Seeman.
