Based on this season's postseason assignments, not too surprising a crew. No one over 60 & 4 guys under 45. Congratulations to these gentlemen!

This is the first crew to consist entirely of officials who weren’t either (1) survivors of mass resignation or (2) umpires hired to replace resigned umpires. Dan Iassogna came the closest, working some games after the resignations, but I believe he and Tim Timmons were the first two hired after (replacing Al Clark and someone else).

Tim Timmons was hired in 2001, as he replaced Al Clark after the plane ticket termination. Dan Iassogna was hired in 2004, replacing the retired Steve Rippley.

I thought Timmons was hired first, but I forgot that a bunch of rehires replaced retired umpires for a few years before Iassogna got hired.

I thought Timmons was hired first, but I forgot that a bunch of rehires replaced retired umpires for a few years before Iassogna got hired. Yeah, that was a strange time. Rehired in 2002 was Joe West, Larry Poncino, Larry Vanover, Bill Hohn, Gary Darling, Bruce Dreckman, Sam Holbrook, & Paul Nauert. The DL list that season was Terry Craft, Greg Bonin, Jim McKean, Rocky Roe, Rich Rieker, Charlie Williams, & Dan Morrison. Craft was the only one to return the following season. Dan Iassogna & Matt Hollowell, while not hired, were placed on crews in 2002. Iassogna worked with Gerry Davis, Mike Winters, & Greg Gibson, while Hollowell worked with Mark Hirschbeck, Paul Schrieber, & Jim Reynolds. Iassogna was hired in 2004 & Hollowell was not, leaving the field after the 2004 season.
