An Old Dominion Coach was penalized for sideline interference however I don’t think it should have been called. The FJ was backing and ended up way out of bounds. He didn’t contact the Coach until he was a few yards out of bounds.

I know it’s not him, but from a distance the L in the Las Vegas Bowl looks like Walt Coleman IV.

Umpire Bob Holcomb got knocked over with about 1:30 to go in the Hawaii Bowl, hitting his head on the turf. He walked off under his own power. Hope he’s okay. The alternate has checked in.

Apparently the Guaranteed Rate Bowl between Kansas and UNLV was pretty intense last night, with KU racking up almost 200 yards in penalties with several personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct flags.
This is the final play of the game. Time to just walk it off.

Following the Ohio State field goal, the Missouri kick returner muffed the ball from the field of play into the end zone where he recovered and downed the ball. A muff is not a new force on the ball, so the impetus for the ball being in the end zone is still the kick. Therefore, the kickers are responsible for putting the ball in the end zone and this play was correctly ruled a touchback.

Missouri punts to Ohio State. The receiver makes a fair catch signal. This Missouri gunner makes an attempt to avoid contact, but an Ohio State player blocks the gunner in the back. That contact causes the gunner to bump into the Buckeyes receiver who ... embellished the contact and is the clubhouse leader for the games Razzie Award.
After a conference, referee Derek Anderson announced that there is no kick catch interference on Missouri, but an illegal block in the back on Ohio State.
Good conference by the Big 12 crew to get the ball right.

Ohio State lost its starting quarterback, which has thinned its playbook. Missouri's offense is not moving the ball against the Buckeye defense.
Both teams are frustrated and we saw that boil over late in the second quarter with a sequence of angry post-whistle action and a unsportsmanlike conduct foul on the Tigers. Referee Derek Anderson had to deliver some stern messages to both teams after the unsportsmanlike flag.
The more a team gets frustrated, the more prone they are to committing unwise fouls and the game could get chippy. The officials will need to be vigilant in the second half to prevent unsporting behavior and, if need be, flag unsporting or unsafe behavior.

I think a no-call here is the best call:

Boring Cotton Bowl just fine with the officials.
The game was not an instant classic that we'll remember in the years to come.
While Ohio State and Missouri clunked their way through the Cotton Bowl, the Big 12 crew lead by Derek Anderson was a well-oiled machine. Only two calls of question - a tight late hit out of bounds late and instant replay not reviewing a suspicious fumble early - but other than that, the crew did a fine job.
This is a premier Big 12 crew in experience and accomplishment. The conference can be proud of the crew they assigned to this game.
