Bill Miller gets both Brett Lawrie & John Farrell. Lawrie will be suspended since his helmet hit Miller. Also, when the game ended & Miller was walking off the field the MLB Network had video of a fan throwing their beer on Miller. I will try to see if I can find it. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=21468797

Five games at least. I'd rather 10 games but I doubt it. Lawrie aimed that helmet at Miller's feet. Miller also seems to wipe spit out of his face after he ejects Farrell. I think Farrell should also get a one game suspension for prolonging the argument and failure to control his saliva.

Crazy first inning in DC. The first, second & third base umpires did not realize how brief the storm passing through was & when Gorman was ready to resume play everyone was out their but them. You can ignore the first part of this clip. It just shows a Nationals player not making a catch. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=21458731That's funny!!! Got the video approved s a link on the notorous Fark.com - note my headline: tinyurl.com/d37orqz

Don't think he aimed the helmet at Miller's feet, it just bounced up and happened to hit him. and I'd be pissed too, Miller blew it on two straight pitches here

These punks need to start acting like professional baseball players, not college kids who are playing in an intramural slow pitch softball game. I hope Lawrie gets a minimum of 7 games. I should also add that Dan Iassogna did a GREAT job of getting down the line and telling Lawrie to get to the dugout.

Just to remind everyone that Alomar got 3 games for spitting in the face on an Umpire.
Anything more than 5 is inequitable, imho.

The helmet thing is inexcusable, but he was 100% right to tell the PU that he missed two, in a row.

I am certainly not going to say that Miller deserved the abuse that he got (helmet, spit, beer, etc), but these were two horrible calls, the second worse than the first. He is not immune from part of the blame for this situation. Reminded me of Lesley Neilsen in Naked Gun. I did not see this game, but I am going to take a guess that his strike zone was not the size of Rhode Island the entire game. If it was, there would've probably been a host of ejections prior to the 9th inning.

Miller always calls a very big zone, most specifically the high strike. But it seems like he was really pissed off about Lawrie running to first before the call. I have never understood why this angers umpires so much. Get over it. You need to call the game like it is. Don't call an awful strike call because Lawrie pissed you off. That is just flat out unprofessional. That being said, Lawrie deserved the 4 game suspension he got. Throwing the helmet towards an umpire cannot and will not be tolerated.
