Speaking of Umpires people like to rag on. Here is another great call from an unlikely source, not my opinion but the general public. Like the Bucknor play, most Umpires probably would have assumed an out but this is why watching the entire play is crucial. These last couple of clips have reminded us that even though there are some MLB Umpires who are not as good as others and get criticized endlessly they are still among the best in the world. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=26022181&c_id=mlb&topic_id=vtp_opening_weekCuzzi? Yes. He is someone who has gotten a lot of criticism over the years but he made a good call here.

The last set of announcers (I think it was TB radio) was over the top but the ball was off the plate. Foster has been getting in several jams in the past few years......

I have never considered Marty Foster to be one of the better umpires. That said, I give him credit for owning up to his mistake. As we all know, there are those who will not do so regardless of what the videotape shows.

One of my perverse pleasures with my MLB.tv subscription, is watching a game like that through the losing teams feed. (quite frankly, as a Yankee fan, I can't stand when Flaherty is doing the color - God, is he awful and pedantic). Even the Indian announcers were saying that he deserved it - and dug out an archive of him the last time he did it!
