I give the Sugar Bow crew an "A+" for their work tonight. There were a few gut-busting calls throughout the game, but the crew stepped up and did an excellent job. I was especially impressed with Flanagan's work. He had great mechanics and showed great hustle compared to most referees.

Big 12 crew gets an "A" in the Orange Bowl. FF7, i thought they missed a lot of spots, as well as the BJ missed a blatant DPI (clotheslining the WR) and the R announced only 1 penalty over the PA system, and left his mic on while he blew his whistle at least 5 times. I'd give them a C at best, missing like 5 spots is tough.

Cotton Bowl: Texas A&M V LSU- Randy Smith (C-USA)
This shocks me because according to the SMU website he worked the C-USA Championship Game. The game was played in December 2010, here is the entire crew.
Referee: Randy Smith • Umpire: Gregory Adams • Linesman: Gary Calip • Line judge: Sarah Thomas • Back judge: Michael Bailey • Field judge: Justin Larrew • Side judge: Dan Gautreaux •

Maybe different conferences have different rules.

I wonder if Dan Gautreaux is related to Greg Gautreaux?

Fox showed video of MP as the WH of the 1996 Cotton Bowl. That was great video, even MP enjoyed it.

Dan Gautreaux is Greg Gautreaux's Son. And CUSA does not count their Championship Game Assignment as a Bowl Assignment. Dan was the SJ in the Alamo Bowl as well this year.

this compass bowl crew just had their hands full. i think they did not do a good job settling it. off setting fouls and enforcing the false start only? poor decision. shouldve been a PF late hit on the QB enforced, then offsetting fouls. dunno who this crew is, but very poorly done i think.

The crew enforced the dead ball fouls by rule, kbyrd and is the only way they could have done it, unless they had dq'ed someone. If there are more than one personal foul or UNS reported to the R prior to the ready, no matter how many against one team or the other, they must offset by rule. It was an ugly play, but handled correctly per rule. The only one that can be marked off is the false start.

I'm a NFHS official and timing and penalty enforcement rules differences between high school and NCAA make my head hurt.
