Ive been watching the NFL Redzone and have to say...I'm seeing poor officiating in several games. Parry's crew just missed a big call in the NYG/Philly game when Phil WR Jackson was touched and then went down with the ground causing the fumble. NY recovered. Reid should've challenged but obviously the call was missed. Carey's crew has missed several calls. On the same play, JAX played was called for a chop block, a good call but on the play QB Garrard gave himself up as he slid and got hit hard by a Colt defender. Should've been a PF. Carey seemed angered at the Jags and the player for the chop block PF. I don't think that was proper.

I only saw one truly missed call in the Eagles-Giants game (missed down by contact that Reid inexplicably did not challenge). This is one of the chippiest games of the year to officiate. Parry's crew gets a solid A.

I agree with FredFan7. The officials kept the situation under much better control than either sideline (the Eagles, as always, with their timeouts, and the Giants with their punter).

I really like SJ7 Keith Washington and I was impressed with him again today with Parry's crew. This is his third year and he has yet to officiate a playoff game. I hope that changes this year.

Now watching Morelli's crew work in the flurries in Pittsburgh. Fred, any idea why the Steelers got a first down on that 9 yard play by Mendenhall on 1st and 10? Weird. -Brad

My kids have been competing with the TV for face time with daddy so I haven't been able to watch closely. I can only guess that the TV graphics marking the first down line were wrong. Did the Jets or announcers fuss?

My kids have been competing with the TV for face time with daddy so I haven't been able to watch closely. I can only guess that the TV graphics marking the first down line were wrong. Did the Jets or announcers fuss? Steelers had 1st and 10 from Jets 35. Steelers ran a play that got 9 yards, with Mendenhall tackled at the 26. Ball spotted at the 26, 2nd and 1. There was some confusion with the officials after spotting the ball at the 26, and Nantz informs TV audience that the Steelers have been given a 1st down on the field, even though it should be 2nd and 1. He talks about it for a couple more plays before giving it up. Steelers end up converting a 3rd and long that should have been 4th down and go on to score a touchdown on the drive. On the play in question the 1st down marker was definitely on the 25, and the ball was definitely spotted at the 26, there was no "misplaced yellow line" issue. I'm really not sure what happened. Unlike many of you, I'm not an official, just a fan so I don't see a lot of what goes on with the officials in between plays. -Brad

Green and crew made an illegal formation call on Oakland for not having enough men on the line of scrimmage. This was a poor call that negated a touchdown. Sadly the very next play resulted in a turnover where both an Oakland player and #128 were shaken up on the play.

I watched a good chunk of the Jets-Steelers game after my Giants choked (guhhhhhh). Morelli's crew did a pretty good job, so I give them a solid A. I still don't understand why Morelli is so bland on the microphone though.
Does anyone remember a referee who was as bland and monotone on the microphone as Morelli is?

A lot of Steeler fans on some of the blogs are blasting the officials....I didn't see anything outrageous today...oh sure as in every game you can nit pick on this call and that call but perhaps I missed something. I think the phantom first down was crazy and will wait for the explanation but other than that, there was nothing that I saw was egregeous.

Fred Silva, Dick Hantack, Bob McElwee, Gordon McCarter were all very very bland on the mic but then again perhaps it was Art McNally and/or Jerry Seeman's directive (he was bland too) not to be too demonstrative on the mic...MP is the guy who pushed them to become more themselves. (Of today's guy, Boger is very bland).

I was also watching the Broncos-Raiders game. There were a lot of flags, and Green had a really bad RTP call. I give the crew a B-.
