I love the way Hochuli takes charge on the mike. It's not anything new but after watching other games today he just stands out so much more than the others. I'am glad we get to see again next Monday night too.

Hochuli is making sure everyone in the stadium and everyone who is watching knows he is working this game... haha. he was literally talking to belichick from across the field. i love watching the games he is reffing. he's so entertaining, and always good. fantastic rumble for 71yds for NE63.

How does one miss an obvious offsides like NE just had on their kickoff? How does that happen?

i think TE85 for NE should've been flagged for the showboat USB into the endzone after he shedded the tackle for a TD with 7m in 4thQ. DeSean Jackson showboated in (last week, McAulay was the ref i think?) and got flagged for it, so Hernandez should've gotten the laundry too.

I'm sorry but I don't agree that it's been a good night for the SNF crew....Maybe I'm a Christmas Grinch...I didn't like the helmet to helmet call in the first half... Just saw an obvious late hit/piling on by a NE lineman with no call. I feel like I'm watching a different game. I think age is a factor for officials and some of them have a hard time keeping up especially in difficult conditions. My Dad was an official and I remember his biggest beef in the 70's and 80's when I watched NFL with him was, "These old guys ought to hang it up, they can't keep up". The game has gotten so fast.

I noticed Al Michaels went on a bit too much about the "tuck rule". I don't remember "intent" being any part of the tuck rule at that time in relation to the QB's intention to pull the ball down?

I wasn't watching SNF closely in the second half, but Hochuli's crew did "A" work in the first half.

Hochuli STUNK last night. He has lost it. Late flags, looking at jumbotron to decide, confusing explanation regarding time. He is near the end, sadly, for a former great official. He just looked like he was unprepared for an NFL game last night. He was counting on too much help.

Are discussions regarding rules and their interpretation and implementation not allowed?

One of the key things we do on this board is discuss officiating assignments and we like to guess who is working what game. The day Walt Coleman works an Oakland game, then that will be put to rest. It is the NFL that has continued to refuse to put this matter to rest with its unfair decree that Coleman will not work Oakland games. Other than nepotism (like the umpire Wolfe working a game of a team his brother pitches for which is to a degree understandable (although Bill Haller for a little while was allowed to work games his brother caught), this is something that has never occdurred to the best of my knowledge in any other sport in history. Was Rich Garcia banned from working Oriole games when he made one of the most egregeous calls in baseball history and rule Derek Jeter's routine fly ball to right field a home run when some pos reached over the wall to deprive the Oriole right fielder of the opportunity to make a fairly routine catch near the right field wall? Was Frank Pulli not allowed to work Los Angeles games when he didn't have the guts to rule Reggie Jackson had deliberately turned his rear end into a throw, a clear case of interference? Was Jerry Markbreit banned from working San Diego games after his mishandling of the obvious forward fumble by the Oakland quarterback in that game in 1977? (And yes Jerry, not to demean your great career but the Oakland qb clarly shpveled the ball forward which should have been ruled an incomplete forward pass immediately, not to mention the rest of your crew missing the Oakland player kicking the ball forward into the end zone but why let the facts get in the way of a good story that it was the right call). Unfortunately mistakes occur yet this is the only time I know of that a league has banned an official from working a team's games even thought it claims the right call was made. Perhaps I am missing something.
I think this situation has long since passed the ludicrous stage and it's about time everybody, including the Raiders, was treated to a game reffed by Coleman. Until then, the implication is he did something that wronged the Raiders (whether that is the intention of the NFL or not is open to question but it's still a valid point) and I have heard Michaels make that point during telecasts of games worked by Coleman just in case there are people out there unaware of this.

Please let's get away from all the R85 jabber, there's more guys out there, we don't have to have a steady diet of that topic run into the turf.....look how much fun MNF was out of doors, it got to be a real adventure when the freezing precip started falling...football the way it should be played. Do away with domes....the High Schools and many colleges don't play in domes, let the big boys earn their keep out doors.

JAYJAY, I agree, I was thinking how the Vikings went to four Super Bowls in eight years while playing outside, but zero since the went inside.

while this doesnt make any sense to me in regards to walt coleman, it's probably because raider fans are insane. i'd think after 8 years it wouldnt matter anymore.
