What just happened with that kickoff at 1:43? They stopped the kick to let Jacksonville get 11 on the field? Odd...

3.85 for the Cheffers crew tonight. One little bog down when del Rio changed his mind on a penalty enforcement and that's about all I saw to pick at.
The game got chippy, there was an ejection, and the crew did a good job. Nice to see Jimmy Buchanan on the field tonight.

ejection was weak. big time weak. open hand to the facemask. not good IMO. Thought the game was just eh. nothing great from Cheffers as usual. Got the replays all correct.
what was with JDR reviewing the Flacco "out of the end zone" play. stupid.
thought a DPI was called wrong and one OPI was missed.

I thought Cheffers crew did a solid job Today. Nothing egregious that he missed. But I agree with kbyrd that the ejection was pretty weak. Both ejections this week were not good ones IMO.

What I don't understand is why knee-to-the-crotch did not result in an ejection. I can see the ejection in real time as it looked like the player wound up and gave a big swing, but it was an open palm.

Ok, Cheffers just had a similar foul that made him a Youtube sensation last year. Double fouls on a punt with change of possession. First of all, Jack del Rio took forever to make up his mind and finally Cheffers had to go over and explain the options to him. He finally delivered a :25 second penalty announcement (legitimate - no verbosity) and NAILED it! Video needed.

In time for MNF, I bet some communication came down from the league about the recent missed ejections. This may have resulted in an over-adjustment for the DQ last night.

In addition to the fact that it was the open palm it appeared that the Jacksonville OL (Whimper) had his hand in the Baltimore LB's (Ayanbadejo) facemask. The only way to get that out would be to push Whimper or his arm away

The league needs to be more consistent with how it determines whether or not a foul should warrant a DQ. If we're going to toss a player for an open-handed slap to an opponent's facemask but allow a player to continue to participate after he kicks an opponent in the groin, we have a problem.

I have to disagree with those saying this crew was solid. While in no way is it easy and each play was close, they got each of the fumble plays called wrong on the field. While they fixed it with replay, teams are forced to use challenges and they only have so many.
The "We were waiting for 11 players on the field" thing on the kickoff made no sense. I didn't think not having enough guys on the field was an excuse to have the play clock run out and the officials hold everything up and wait.
People can say what they want, but I think Cheffers seems more uncomfortable on the mic than Boger, who receives most of the criticism on that front.

Boger is comfortable on the mic - it is his natural voice. His natural voice, though, does not lend confidence to his calls.

I think the ejection call was weak, if the officials were observant they would have caught the scrum both ways, they were standing right there, and #79 had the linen Then if necessary ding them both and shoot them both off to the showers early.

Ok, I figured out the Kickoff thing...Apparently the rules state that the play clock should not be started on Free Kicks until both teams have 11 players on the field.

i think the issue that Carl had on the mic was not the ejection, it was earlier in the game, maybe late 1Q or early 2Q) ... I was in a resturant so I did not hear the call, I just saw him on tv for like 2m straight.... the ejection call was done fine, albeit a weak call

Somebody, perhaps Fred, has to explain to me that call I mentioned earlier when you had three penalties on the same play.....what choice is there for either team? Either they're both post possession off setting in which case the receiving team keeps the ball at the spot they established possession or they off set period and the down is replayed. Some keep saying Jacksonville had a choice and JDR changed his mind.....please I'm lost. What choice did they have?
