I thought Blakeman's crew did a pretty good job last night. They called a lot of penalties against Detroit, but most of them were called because of the ignorant and immature actions of the players. Brandon Pettigrew should have been tossed, and I hope his wallet is a little lighter by the end of the week.
Final Grade: 3.5.

It looks awfully like that knee is down in bounds and the receiver did maintain possession of the ball going to the ground The image above will not show properly so I just included the URL Here is the reverse angle:

DET #87 makes contact with an official and doesn't get ejected? What's up wit that!?!?! I wonder if the crew will get downgraded for that. I was always under the impression that ejection was automatic when there is contact with an official, it's not a matter of discretion. He also called the penalty a "personal foul" when it's actually "unsportsmanlike conduct." MP, in twitter, said the following: Open hand jam to the face. Wouldn't eject for that. Let's not get crazy ejecting players. We'll see if he changes his mind by the time he does his chat or column.

mike....remember your picture is 2 dimensional, not 3 dimensional. The knee is not yet on the ground....I've seen the video and I feel the call was correct.....btw while they didn't call dpi on the touchdown pass you referred to, one the play where it was questioned whether the Packer receiver may have crossed the back line of the end zone, he was put in that position by some sort of illegal contact either dpi or illegal contact which wasn't called either. Some tough calls in that game and it seemed that most went against the Giants but no matter what, the calls did not decide the game.
