Reading FF7's recent post got me surfing YouTube this morning. While I certainly can't compete with digging up when he does, I thought that going over some videos on ejections reminds us how to handle these situations.
The crews are always calm, and do things like, but not limited to: - stand in a non-confrontational manner - get in quick to break up squirmishes - identify the culprit quickly and prevent further ejections - excellent work on the mic, which translates to explanations to coaches
Here are just 3 to start...

If you find Ron Winter's 2002 NYG-SF penalty announcement, please post it, I've been looking since it happened.
I remember the Dante Wesley penalty. I thought three things at the time: There should have been more penalties and more ejections, that one official should get a medal for practically having to tackle the player who wanted to fight, and third-Parry should have gotten a CC for his ability to keep control of the situation (ala Markbriet with Charles Martin).

That official was Keith Washington SJ7. Kudos to the announcing crew for properly recognizing good officiating. Also, did you notice that we had at least three other flags, but Parry only enforced the Wesley penalty? It would have been rough to have an offset there. Marbreit did the same thing with Charles Martin. The officials flagged some retaliation, but Markbreit had them pick up those flags and only enforce the Martin foul.

So I had an ejection the other day, and I *FAILED* to use Parry's "by virtue of this actions..." quote. Team A's gunner launches himself horizontal and cleans out the punt receiver at the knees before the ball gets there. Three flags came out instantly. Easy DQ call, along with the 40 yards.

Good for your crew. Dirty plays like that have no place in the game. I assume that this was in a semi-pro game?

I was the R, and a newbie was one of the deep guys who had the primary on this call. He reported just a UR (no DQ). I asked the other two flag-throwers and they both said DQ. I asked the first guy and he had no problem with the DQ. The offending team didn't say a thing and the receiving team's bench all cheered when I voiced "Rough Play carrying a disqualification". Edit: this DQ was the worse act by a player I've seen in my career.

Can someone remind me how/why Parry's crew was not in the playoffs in 2009?

Can someone remind me how/why Parry's crew was not in the playoffs in 2009? They had one play late in the season that was not officiated properly (I think it was a pass/fumble/whistle/clock play). But, I must say that we were all VERY surprised to see that Parry's crew didn't get a playoff.

From what you guys know, can one blown play in a season disqualify a crew from postseason assignments? I hear this all the time, yet I think I've read more than once that postseason assignments come from a crew's work across the arc of a season. Which is it?
