I was at this game last night. Lance was having a pretty decent game up until he decided to interject himself into it. He made a bad balk call and the manager let him know about it. Buddy was chirping at him as he was heading back to dugout when Lance decided he wasn't getting enough attention and ran him. All Lance had to do was walk away.

I'm not sure how you think this is a bad balk call. This is about as obvious as you will see. He was looking home and pointed his foot towards home and then threw to first. An obvious balk. Don't listen to the Padres homer announcers who clearly show a lack of rules knowledge in this situation. I also thought this was ecellently handled by Barrett. He gave Black plenty of time to stop talking and when he wouldn't he ran him. Remember,, you technically cannot argue a balk at all and I think Barrett gave him more than enough time. My $0.02

The pitcher's right leg clearly crossed the plane of the rubber, therefore it's a balk.

The pitcher's right leg clearly crossed the plane of the rubber, therefore it's a balk. Explain this to me... why didn't the first base umpire call it? He has a much better position to determine that type of infraction. He never even flinched as if he was about to call a balk. He stood there with his hands on his knees and didn't even lift himself up until HP umpire called a balk. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But this type of infraction ought to be called by the 1st or 3rd base umpire.

Defintely a balk. The pitcher was heading towards the plate with the foot, but then went to first.

Joe West yanks Joe Girardi out of the game in New York. I saw the pitch on sportscenter and it was a good call. West has a bad rap, but I don't see anything objectionable about his actions............ mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20966763

Camden Yards needs to step it up security-wise.
Bill Hohn puts an end to the silliness in 2010.

Does Kellogg come from a law enforcement background? That was a professional takedown.

Does Kellogg come from a law enforcement background? That was a professional takedown. According to the good folks at the UEFL, Kellogg has a BA in Criminal Justice.... Luciano, in Strike Two, has Harvey telling of a time in St Louis, I think, where he was in the middle of an argument, and out of the corner of his eye he saw someone with a Cardinal shirt on the field coming towards them, and realizing it was a fan, gave the guy a forearm shiver, and as Harvey puts it, "we moved the argument over little, so nobody got blood all over themselves..." ;D

And, by the way, MLB has now said that Kellogg won't be disciplined at ALL for the incident....but I do bet they will be talking to the Orioles about security there.

According to another source, this is the fourth time a fan has caused a delay like this at Camden Yards this season, and it isn't even May. Something needs to be done before a fan assaults a player or umpire.
