It was, though, a horrible call. What the first base umpire was watching is beyond me. Yes, bad call and the Tigers have been getting a string of them recently...... My only thought is that the catcher had a little movement as the ball came in and the thought was maybe the catcher trapped it. Still, it was a clear catch.

For whatever the reaon, with a right handfed batter they use the first base umpire to verify checked swings and the like but really the second base umpire has the best view and since there was a Boston runner on base, he's inside second base. I just wonder why he wasn't consulted.

Actually, the Lamont ejection came first. That was not very clear in the video but Tschida ejected Lamont in between the second and third innings and Welke ejected Leyland as the third inning was about to start.

Foster is turning into a young Bob Davidson. Over the last few years, he's had several egregious ejections and seems to like drawing attention to himself. I can't stand the way he chews tobacco on the field either. That ejection was RIDICULOUS. The pitch, while inside, wasn't really that close to hitting Kinsler and wasn't aimed at his head. Just once... just one time, I'd like to see a pitcher not leave. Just stand there on the mound. Yes... the game would probably end up being a forfeit. But, it most certainly cause MLB to start looking at these situations where umpires think they are mind-readers. Some of these guys are out of control and it all seems to be getting worse each season.

We've all probably heard of "Girls Gone Wild"... this is starting to look like "Umpires Gone Wild". Porter makes a bad call and it looks like he is just looking for a reason to toss someone and Carroll was the someone. Not sure what Carroll said, but it didn't look like he got more than 3 words out before he got run.

Carroll said "You blew it rookie" and was immediately ejected. If you call a rookie a rookie you will be tossed. That is one of the magic words.

White Sox Announcer, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, almost dies on the air after Mark Wegner tosses a Sox pitcher for throwing behind Ben Zobrist. In other news, the sun came up in the east today........... cbsloc.al/L63CaN

Very angry day in Tampa Bay. Sox catcher AJ Pierzinski goes in spikes high on Ben Zobrist which sparks several brushbacks on both sides and leads to ejections - including Robin Ventura's first as a skipper. bit.ly/KsFPUz

Apparently, Harrelson went on a multi-inning personal rant against Mark Wegner and just wouldn't let it go. This could get very interesting. WSCR Radio in Chicago (Sox flagship) reports that MLB is "aware" of Harrelson's comments and "is not happy." They are considering options to censure Harrelson for his personal and inflammatory comments.

He has a right to be upset, but to say Wegner "knows nothing about the game of baseball" is unacceptable. Were warnings issued prior to the ejection?
