The NFL is hedging on just what they're going to do about the Giant-Viking game. As it stands now, the Giants are overnighting in KC and will be trying to fly in leaving KC at 0600 gmt -6 tomorrow morning. That could get them in with a reasonable chance if MSP is open and the highways plowed (well this is the Twin Cities, not NYC) but.... I doubt extremely that the officials were able to get to Minneapolis and while the one charter flight could get in, what about all the cancelled flights from wherever they are coming from unless.... The Giants are a classy organization under the Mara family (as well as Tisch) and I wonder if the NFL might have had the officials fly to KC and asked the Giants as a favor to let them go with them on their charter. That's the only way I can see the officials getting into MSP in time for a 1200 gmt -6 game. The NFL needs to do the right thing and push the game back to 4:00 Eastern time. With the way they have it set up now, it wouldn't be very fair to the Giants. As for the officials, I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL had them fly into Kansas City and jump on the Giants' charter, but with guys traveling from all over the country, I'm not sure if that would be practical.

mike - maybe you are right - but 6 of Mike Carey's crew live on the west coast and 1 in AZ - 4 of Morelli's in Calif and the others in Wis/Tex/Mo - Riveron's crew FL/Ga/NC/Ma/NY etc. if all of the crews are "equal" - then treat them as such - and if not - why not - these are 119 NFL pros - and if a crew is not of "plum" assignment caliber, then I guess the supervisors who created the crews didn't do such a good job.

When they had the fires in San Diego and re-located the game to Phoenix at the last minute, the officials flew with one of the teams.

I don't see how they can make this a noon start. Push it back to 3PM central at least. Remember Baltimore last year? Officials did a literal "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" act to get to the game. I assume the same is happening tonight.

I assume the same is happening tonight. Fred....that would of course make sense but there's one small problem. Who runs the NFL? The television networks, of course. If you move the game back to 1505 gmt-6, well guess what. You have created a conflict with the Jets and Fish. The NFL has been committed for a long while to making sure Jet games and Giant games are in separate slots (they allowed them to conflict twice last year, one because of the incredible stupidity of the NFL in scheduling the Jets for a late Sunday night game on Yom Kippur eve when the Jets failed to request special consideration as did the Giants and Pats) and then in October, obstensibly because of a conflict between a late Jet-Fish game and the World Series; although the real reason was this gave Fox an opportunity to pipe the Favre Bowl into NYC. CBS was not happy about that and splitting the Jet and Giant audiences. What should have been done 10 days ago, of course, is the NYG-MIN game should have been moved to 1505 gmt-6 while the Jets-Fish should have been moved to 1300 gmt-5 so NY would have had both the Giant game and Pat-Bear game late not the Jets only and no Pats (of course that was before the Pats exposed the Jets on Monday night). While the NFL controls a lot of things, they can't control the weather. I am sure that if not for the fact it is a NY team and the conflict with the Jets game, it would have been moved to the late slot. However, from what I hear now, the NFL realizes it would be an affront to have the game at noon in Minneapolis given the weather conditions, few fans would be there and a major loss of revenue for the Vikes. A competitive disadvantage for the Giants so the talk is of moving the game to Monday night and either conflicting with MNF or having a double header Monday night with an overlap. And we still don't know if the officials made it.

And we still don't know if the officials made it. CJ is hinting at an interesting point. What if not all of the officials make it to the game? How low will the NFL go? I know that there is not technically a limit, and MP earlier confirmed that there have been situations where two officials were injured and they worked five, and I seem to recall either MP or Jerry Markbriet saying there was a game a long time ago that started with four officials, with three joining during the 2nd Quarter. At any rate, if the officials don't make it, or only two or three, then what will the NFL do? I'm sure they're already working on it, and let's not forget about Chicago's game tomorrow. They might have to mix and match crews.

If none of the officials show, the game isn't played. I guess you could go with 4 officials, with the HL or LJ staying home for the snap and the opposite wing going deep. You'd have to have a deep presence. It would be barely doable with 5, and better with six. If you go with five or fewer, it would be the wild west with teams pulling all sorts of cheap stunts and other junk.

Giants@Vikings has been moved to Monday There must have been a significant issue with the officials being able to make it and/or the Giants squawking about having to blow into town on game day to and play (not that I blame them). I also think the Vikings didn't want to play in front of a 2/3 empty stadium.....

I also heard issues with the Roof too. That's what I'm seeing on a handful of blogs as well. If snow causes the roof to collapse, I would vastly prefer that there was not 60,000 people sitting under it at the time. WK #14 2010 Games to watch with SNOW!!!!!!!!!Bengals VS Steelers - Walt Coleman Browns VS Bills - Scott Green Patriots VS Bears - Mike Carey I hate to burst your bubble, as I LOVE the good, old-fashioned snowstorm game, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for Buffalo-the National Weather Service is saying rain (a lot of it). Pittsburgh might get a little bit of snow, but it's supposed to be later in the afternoon. Chicago however, looks to be the most hopeful. Oh, how I hope I get to see a blizzard game. Keep your fingers crossed.
