Marquez usually is very calm after his ejections and doesn't usually shout and get in faces. Farrell must have said something personal that really set Marquez off, because after about 15 seconds of arguing they really had a good old fashioned nose-to-nose screaming match.

This is not an ejection video, but I feel it is worth posting here. This is from the SD V Seattle game. Cameron Maybin walks on 3 balls. How does nobody know the count? None of the other umpires say anything, and neither does anybody from Seattle. This is big because Maybin scores the only run of the game. For those that care Phil Cuzzi was the HP umpire. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=16540623

Sometimes you REALLY wish you could have a chance to read some of the reports these guys have to make to the MLB office after these games. I bet Marquez' one was a beaut, as well as the one from Tampa the other night.

Recently some of the MLB umpires have worked without an indicator with the thought that it's another thing to hold, and it is some sort of security blanket. Working without an indicator somehow makes them concentrate more on the game. All I know is that I've lost track of the count WITH an indicator!

Same here Actually Hallion the CC said that his 'plate umpire' thought he had the wrong count, so its possible Cuzzi had one...

It really is inexcusable...I was taught to constantly check to see the scoreboard is correct to avoid such confusion..I compared almost every other pitch and I've seen many mlb umpires hold up the count every other pitch.

Angel Hernandez launches Pettis and Washington over a non-balk call in the Rangers/Marlins game. I don't think the league will like seeing Washington beaking Hernandez with his cap. Note that West took great pains to not touch either Pettis or Washington while trying to herd the cats away from Hernandez. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=16579187

I was watching a game today and heard that Jim Joyce is out for the year with a knee injury. I haven't found an article yet but will be sure to post if I do.
Doesn't it seem like we've had a lot of umpire injuries this year?

Doesn't it seem like we've had a lot of umpire injuries this year? Actually I've noticed there are a lot more umpire injuries these days than when I first started watching baseball closely in the 1950's although they seem to be in better shape. All kidding aside, it has become really dangerous working behind the plate. The ball is being thrown harder than ever and although equipment has improved by leaps and bounds, it just hasn't kept up. I know,k I know it's sacreligeous. It may just be too dangerous to have an umpire standing behind home plate and just maybe they might have to consider using something like questrek to call balls and strikes on the major league level (I know I'll be flamed for this but....)

It seems to me we have the same umpires over and over in the controversy. How are they held accountable as their jobs seem to be secure as The Supreme Court once you have made the majors,
Just read Chipper Jones article in The Atlanta Constitution critical of this years performance of umpires.
